The photographs that Manfred Wakolbinger brings back from his expeditions into the oceans, show the dance of the thaliacea, which seems to have originated from an ocean galaxy. He subsequently deconstructs both the colour and the complexity of this rare phenomenon, until finely shimmering membrane stars shine in the dark water, which he projects into the sky. With your head tilted back and your gaze directed upwards, the supposedly fixed categories above and below, air and water, sky and earth are shaken for a moment – and causes, for some of us, free-floating thoughts.
