From the song “Yellow” by Coldplay:

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
What a thing to do
And it was all yellow

Yellow, the color of light, of eternity, lux aeterna, it lights our way in dark times. Whether the color yellow leads to God or to gold is up to people’s preferences, i.e. our personal preferences. In any case, it is certain that this color brightens our minds, puts us in a more open, better mood.

In our current exhibition “Yellow” you can see works by Ferdinand Melichar, Frenzi Rigling, Elisabeth von Samsonow, Hubert Schmalix, Thomas Stimm and Uta Weber.

In Schmalix’s picture “Yellow” it is a yellow river that explores the boundaries between realism and abstraction under a yellow sky. In Stimm’s cast aluminium “Dahlia” it is a yellow blossom that immortalises the beauty of nature. Whether Uta Weber’s “Dot”, a dot that uses the iconography of the 1960s and has been transformed into the present, or Melichar’s picture “Ins Licht” (“Into the Light”), in which a female figure moves into the pictorial space of the painting ground, yellow is always the dominant color of the works of art.
